Brian is a passionate and experienced hockey coach dedicated to developing well-rounded athletes both on and off the ice. With four years of progressive coaching experience at the House League, DS, and Rep levels, he brings a strong foundation in team building, strategy, and player development. Having coached at the U15BB, U15B, U13B, and House League levels, he is committed to fostering a disciplined, accountable, and motivating environment where players can grow their skills, confidence, and love for the game. His structured coaching style emphasizes preparation, long-term development, and a balance of fitness, skill-building, and hockey strategy. Certified through Hockey Canada, he is a dedicated mentor who values teamwork, resilience, and communication, ensuring his players not only compete at a high level but also build lifelong skills and lasting memories.
U15B Head Coach – Rich Alvarez - [email protected]
Richard Alvarez has been actively coaching since 2018, serving as both a head coach and an assistant coach with the BGHC and BLOMHA, supporting his daughter and son’s development in the sport. Richard is returning as Head Coach of the U15B team, following previous experience at the rep level as an assistant coach with BLOMHA. A lifelong hockey player, Richard brings a strong passion for the game and is committed to developing young athletes both on and off the ice by building skills that foster confidence, responsibility, and positive contributions to their communities. His coaching philosophy emphasizes teamwork, resilience, character development, and technical skill development.
U13B Head Coach – Emmie McKenzie - [email protected]
An original Barracuda swimming full circle, Emmie McKenzie is born and raised in Burlington in a household filled with hockey. She started her playing career with the Barracudas and is proud to continue her involvement as a Coach for the last 3 seasons. She has coached hockey for 6 years with multiple organizations and at many levels (HL, DS, Select, BB) with the Flamborough Sabres, Burlington Timbits, Bulldogs, Raiders and Barracudas. Emmie thrives on fostering growth, teamwork, and a love for the game in every player. Emphasizing the value and power of teamwork while helping players understand what it means to play for something bigger than themselves. Emmie is excited to bring her unique blend of technical expertise, leadership, and dedication to our U13B team for the 2026/27 season and help them discover their "next level."
