The Burlington Girls Hockey Club is currently seeking applicants for Head Coach of the Burlington Barracudas U18AA Hockey team.
The appointment would commence for the 2024-2025 season.
A competitive stipend will be provided for a Non-Parent coach.
The Burlington Girls Hockey Club, home of the Barracudas, serves the Burlington community through the pursuit of hockey excellence providing opportunities for elite competition through our High-Performance Strategy. We pride ourselves on attracting excellent athletes who have a strong desire to compete against the best female hockey players in Ontario. BGHC has placed players on U Sports, NCAA, Team Ontario and Team Canada. This all starts with our non-competitive U7 house league teams and continues on to the OWHA – U22 Elite - Junior (formerly Provincial Women’s Hockey League). The Burlington Barracudas is one of only a handful of Ontario organizations that run teams at the highest level of competition in all age categories, from U9 through to OWHA - U22.
Responsibilities:
Coaching, development, recruitment and retention of athletes for the U18AA program.
Organize and coordinate try-outs, camps, practices, competitions and tournaments working alongside the Team Manager.
Provide the necessary conditions in alignment with the goals, policies and procedures of Hockey Canada, OWHA and the BGHC High Performance strategy. Work collaboratively with current interim Head and Assistant coaches in providing an effective transition of responsibilities.
Requirements:
Minimal Coaching Certification, Hockey Canada High Performance 1
Completed Respect in Sport
Criminal records check and vulnerable sector screening
Assets:
High level of integrity, professionalism and accountability
High level of hockey knowledge of technical and tactical elements of hockey
Elite level women’s hockey experiences with winning track record an asset
High knowledge of player safety and well-being
Excellent communication, organizational and coordination skills
High ability to foster a collective team environment
Budgeting, finance and technical skills an asset
