The BGHC is pleased to announce our dynamic, High
Performance Coaching Team for the upcoming 2020-2021 season.
Dana Weistra | Midget AA
Returning for a second year as the Midget AA coach, Dana has more than 20 years’ experience coaching boys and girls hockey, including 11 years with the BGHC as an assistant coach and head coach for Midget AA and Peewee A teams. A hard-working coach and strong role-model for young athletes, Dana has guided teams to first place finishes, gold medal tournament wins and playoff championships. She brings a positive philosophy with principles that guide her coaching methodology with a commitment to create a balance between skill and game strategy development with her players. A proud hockey parent to her full grown son and daughter, Dana's 45 years as a player, coach and hockey enthusiast demonstrates her commitment to Canada's favourite sport. Dave Lafleur l Bantam AA
Dave is currently the coach of the BGHC Bantam A rep team. He has more than 20 + years’ experience coaching all divisions in girls and boys hockey at both the rep and house league levels, in addition to coaching girls softball and boys baseball. A CUDAS hockey dad and head coach for more than 5 years. Dave is an incredible brand ambassador and supporter of girls hockey, Dave recognizes the importance of developing our young athletes, leading well organized and high energy practices and supporting their training with off-ice conditioning. He brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and key insights to the Bantam AA team and believes in creating a positive, unified team. Dave can be reached at [email protected]
Chris Douridas l Peewee AA
Chris has over 10 years of coaching experience in girls and boys sports. He has coached in the BGHC for seven years, including HL, DS, Novice and Atom Rep teams with 7 Tournament Golds, and a 2018 Lower Lakes bronze. He has also coached 9 years at BOMBA, Rep baseball, boys hockey and runs a very successful business in Southern Ontario.
Chris’ coaching philosophy creates a fun, positive atmosphere where his team culture nurtures players coming to the rink each day excited to play, ready to compete while learning our great game of hockey. His energy, enthusiasm along with his excellent communication skills have helped him succeed at coaching. Michael Burton l Atom AA
As a dedicated and energetic coach, this will be Michael’s third year as Head Coach within the BGHC. Michael has coached Novice A and currently, Atom A. Additionally, Michael has also been an Assistant Coach for the CUDAS, Bulldogs, BLOHMA, and the ORHL Minor Atom Cougars and coached BYSC soccer for 7 years.
Michael is a dedicated Cudas dad, as well as a parent to 2 other children in rep sports, and has a huge passion and understanding for kids in athletics. Michael places a large emphasis on development, effort and fun. His belief is, hockey is a tool, to grow the player as a whole individual, and to develop leaders on and off the ice. The BGHC is now accepting coaching applications for the following 2020/2021 Rep teams. Deadline to submit applications is Friday, November 29th, 11:59pm Interviews will take place in early December.
