The BGHC is pleased to announce the following rep coaching appointments for
the upcoming 2020-2021 season.
Nick Mitchell | Midget A
Nick is returning the BGHC rep coaching team and will take the lead as the Midget A coach. Nick is heading into his fourth year of coaching, and has spent two years as an assistant coach for the Midget A team. He is a hard-working, dedicated young coach and is passionate about hockey and the development of young athletes. Nick has won several championships as both a player and coach throughout various levels of hockey. He is a strong believer in a positive team environment, and loves helping athletes reach new levels of their game. He closely follows the ever changing game, and creates game and individual development strategies that encourage the athlete’s positive growth, and ensures they have fun while doing so. Marty Savoy l Bantam A
Marty has coached hockey for over 35 teams in the past 25 years, and has coached within the BGHC for 10 years at both the House League and Rep level. He has received memorable accolades for his coaching abilities such as:
· 2018-2019 Burlington Girls Hockey Club Volunteer of the Year for long term service
· 2002 Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal Recipient
· 1999 Received Reorganization Award from the Ontario Hockey Federation for Outstanding Contributions in Hockey Development
Marty is a former member of Hockey Canada's Coach, Initiation Program and Athlete Development Committees. Marty believes that the players must understand the importance of playing within a team and that they all play an important role in the success of the team. Marty is married to Julia, a fellow BGHC coach and has 3 daughters who play within the organization, one of whom also coaches, and a son Dillon often found at the rink supporting this incredible family team. Sam Menard l Atom A
Sam has been a dedicated BGHC coach for the past five years in Tyke, Novice and Atom, most recently as the head coach of Novice Rep team. Growing up as a multi-sport athlete who played basketball at the university level, Sam is a big believer in having kids develop their athletic ability, confidence and leadership skills by playing many sports. Sam’s coaching philosophy is to create a positive environment, with players excited to compete, work hard and most importantly to have fun learning the game while building great friendships.
He’s brought in many guest coaches, including current Cudas players and alumni, to have the younger girls learn from many inspiring role models. Sam can be reached at [email protected]
Jana Harrigan l Novice A
Jana Harrigan has an extensive hockey career receiving a scholarship from Ohio State University, holding 2nd for the record of all time points at Ohio State (160) and was awarded the “All American.” Jana went on to coach the Ohio State Women’s’ Varsity team (06/07) and then continued her hockey career playing in the CWHL from 2007-13.
Jana is the President and Head Instructor of “Harrigan Hockey Inc” where she provides customized hockey training and leagues for females. Her wealth of experience and coaching knowledge are an incredible asset to the BGHC rep program and the development of our young athletes.

The Peewee A Coaching Position will be announced by mid January 2020.
The BGHC is now accepting coaching applications for the following 2020/2021 Rep teams. Deadline to submit applications is Friday, January 10th, 11:59pm Interviews will take place in early January.
· U11 (Atom) Team 3
· U13 (Peewee) Team 3 A & B (2 coaching appointments)
· U15 (Bantam) Team 3
· U18 (Midget) Team 3
