Several individuals have recently received emails from scammers pretending to be BGHC board members, they ask the recipient to make emergency shopping for gift cards, initiate money transfers or reply for an urgent matter.
Please note these are not sent by any board member, volunteers or staff of BGHC. They impersonate using fake e-mails and make a sense of urgency. These emails are malicious and should be immediately deleted and reported to [email protected] to flag them appropriately.
BGHC staff, volunteers or board members will never request money transfer, purchase of gift cards or request personal/financial information via email or messaging.
Identifying these type of messages is easy because they:
- come from a fake e-mail address,
- request actions of odd nature, describe very peculiar situations or convey a false sense of urgency,
- ask for money transfers, shopping gift cards, request personal information, instruct to click a link or download a file.
