Notes

  1. The following NCCP coach certifications must be obtained by Head Coaches PRIOR to the OWHA allowing the coach to be rostered to a team. The BGHC requires the date of completion and the expiration date for each NCCP level completed.
    1. Rep - Intermediate AA, Midget AA and Bantam AA – High Performance 1
    2. Rep – All other levels – Development 1
    3. House league – all levels - Coach 2
    4. Inititation program - Coach 1
  2. All bench staff and on-ice help/practice coaches require RIS and a Police Check only. These individuals are welcome and in fact encouraged to take an NCCP coaching course, either Coach 2 or Development 1.
  3. The Respect-In-Sport Activity Leader (not the Parent course) course is required. This course is available online only – please click HERE. The former classroom version of this program, Speak Out, is also acceptable. The BGHC needs to be given the certificate number and date of completion of the course. THESE COURSES DO NOT EXPIRE.
  4. An up-to-date Police Clearance is required  there are no exceptions. POLICE CLEARANCES EXPIRE ON THE 1ST OF MAY THAT FALLS NO LATER THAN 3 YEARS AFTER ISSUE.  For example, for the 2022-2023 season, the BGHC requires a Police Clearance dated 1-May-2020 or later.
  5. HTCP trainer certification is needed regardless of other medical qualifications of the trainer. This is OWHA policy, not BGHC policy. TRAINER CERTIFICATES EXPIRE ON THE 31ST OF AUGUST THAT FALLS NO LATER THAN 3 YEARS FROM THE ISSUE DATE. This course is available online only – please click HERE. The BGHC needs the certificate number, the level completed and the expiry date – all shown on the certificate of completion for the course.
  6. Dressing room monitors/moms aka “den moms” are NOT on the OWHA official roster. The BGHC office will therefore NOT collect the names of these individuals as part of the rostering process. This does not preclude the requirement for each such individual to have the required certifications. The Team Manager is responsible to ensure that these documents are collected from the individuals before they are allowed in the dressing room with the girls. The Team Manager should forward these certifications to the BGHC office for proper recording as this will put these certifications into the database should these individuals become roster members in a future year.
