CONCUSSION EDUCATION SESSION
Sat Sep 30, 2017, 2:15 PM - 3:00 PM
Location: Mainway Auditorium
As you are aware, concussions are very serious injuries, and if not handled appropriately can result in long-term consequences. In an effort to prevent complications and to ensure the safety and well-being of our members, the BGHC initiated a Concussion Protocol in 2017. This protocol is based on the recommendations put forth by international experts in the field. Each year our protocol is revised to ensure it is current and reflects the latest research findings in this rapidly evolving field.
An integral part of the Concussion Protocol is to provide concussion education to all members. The BGHC is holding MANDATORY meetings for all Rep staff, parents and players on the afternoon of Saturday September 30th at Mainway auditorium. Karen Saevil-Turgeon, Registered Occupational Therapist, of Concussion Smarts Educational Services will be leading the meetings. At least one parent per player is expected to attend. All players at the PeeWee and above ages are expected to attend. As per our concussion protocol, attendance at this session will mean that those attending will next need to attend a concussion education session in person in 3 years’ time ie. this will not be an annual requirement.
We thank you in advance for your support of this critical initiative.
