JR BARRACUDAS SHINE AT U18 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Three Jr. Barracudas represented their Provinces at the 2023 U18 National Championship in Dawson Creek, BC this past week. Sara and Kate Manness skated for Team Manitoba, while Claire Murdoch suited up for Team Ontario Red.

Sara Manness led the tournament in points (10) and goals (5) in five games played, with three multi-point games. Kate Manness had one assist on the Manitoba blueline. Manitoba unfortunately found themselves in a tough Group, with both Ontario teams and BC, and finished 7th.

Murdoch had a point all six games that Team Ontario Red played, helping lead them to a 3-2 Gold medal victory in overtime against Quebec. Murdoch finished the tournament with 7 points, 4 goals and 3 assists, and scored Ontario’s first goal in the Medal Game to get them on the board after trailing 1-0 going into the 3rd period.

Murdoch received the Player of the Game Award when Ontario Red took on Manitoba on Nov. 5th, while Sara Manness was named Tournament MVP for her efforts with Manitoba. All three players represented their provinces and our organization admirably.

Ian Kennedy of The Hockey News ranked Murdoch 12th and Sara Manness 1st on his list of the Top 15 Performers from the tournament.

Come see these great players in action in November when they take on the Toronto Aeros on the 18th, the Nepean Wildcats on the 19th, the Leaside Wildcats on the  25th, and the Cambridge Rivulettes on the 26th for our Pink the Rink game, all at Mainway Arena!!
